Zotero Guide

UTA Libraries' guide to the citation management tool Zotero

Step 4: Set default citation style

1. In Zotero, open the Preferences menu by clicking on "Edit" and then clicking on "Preferences".

2. In the "Preferences" pop-up window, navigate to the "Export" tab.

3. Click on your preferred citation style from the drop-down menu under "Default Format".

Why?

  • Zotero comes with 15 of the most popular citation styles, and many more are available via download from the Zotero Style Repository.
  • Zotero also lets you create Quick Copy bibliographies by highlighting references in the Zotero pane and dragging them into any text field.
