UTA CARES Grant Application

Beginning in 2023, there will be only one application for all categories of the UTA CARES Grant. Click the "Apply Now" button below to go to the application form.

There is no option to save the application form and continue later, so please be prepared to complete your application in one sitting

Prepare the documentation you will need to upload as part of your application ahead of beginning your application. Applications for all types of grant require:

OER Modification Grants

OER Modification Grants provide support for authors to customize existing resources to produce a new OER. The resulting resource will likely contain some original content but will primarily be a revision or reuse of an existing resource. Projects that fit this grant category may take many forms but could include producing a derivative of one existing OER by making significant revisions or producing a new OER by piecing together chapters from multiple resources. OER Modification Grant recipients can receive up to $5,000 in funding.

Apply for an OER Modification Grant if...

  • You want to localize, add content to, or otherwise customize an existing OER to better fit your course’s needs.
  • No single OER covers the content you teach, but parts of multiple resources could be combined with little to no modification to meet your needs.

OER Modification Grant Requirements

Requirements for OER Modification Grants include (but are not limited to):

  • At the close of the grant project, the total cost for required course materials in the specified course must be $0.
  • The resource(s) produced by the grant project must be made publicly available with an open license of the author's choice.
  • Project proposals must include time and budget (when appropriate) for copy editing.
  • Grantees must:
    • Submit monthly project updates to grant administrators for the duration of the project to report on progress.
    • Attend one Introduction to Pressbooks workshop and one Introduction to Accessibility workshop prior to the project’s publication.
    • Submit a final project report summarizing the challenges and accomplishments of the project and its impact on student performance. The report shall include any data that assist in measuring the impact of the project. This report is due within three months following the implementation semester.
    • Continue to use the OER (or another free equivalent) for a minimum of two years.
