Open Education at UTA: Scholarships

UTA Libraries provide support for members of the UTA community to enable participation in local, regional, and national OER conferences and events. Travel scholarships have been temporarily suspended per university travel guidance. However, financial support for participation at virtual events is available. Applicants are required to include a statement about why they are interested in attending the conference and what they hope to gain from the experience.

Applications to present on OER at disciplinary conferences will be considered; a departmental match may be required.

Open Texas 2021 Conference

March 11-12 (virtual)

The first annual Open Texas conference convenes librarians, faculty, administrators, and other open education practitioners and advocates in Texas.

OERxDOMAINS Conference

April 21-22 (virtual)

This annual OER conference, organized by the Association for Learning Technology, on Open Education research, practice, and policy will be held online April 21-22, 2021. The Call for Proposals is open until February 10, 2021.

Open Education Southern Symposium

July 12-16 (virtual)

The Open Education Southern Symposium provides equitable access and opportunities for open education professional development in the southern United States. The Call for Proposals is open until March 19, 2021.

Applications require a statement about why you are interested in participating in the conference. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please note the following:
  • Event registration is not reimbursable; UTA Libraries will submit event registration for all recipients
  • Scholarships may not exceed $5,000
  • All travel is governed by university travel policies and procedures (e.g., receipts required for reimbursement)
  • Permission to archive presentation materials in the UTA ResearchCommons is required for scholarship recipients
  • Student presenters are eligible for travel scholarships
