Finding and Using Theatre on Film

Finding filmed versions of stage productions can be challenging. Often the process will include trial and error and exploration. This guide is intended to point at some basic resources and techniques for finding filmed productions. This is still a work in progress, and resources will be added as we find them.

The tabs below collect resources.

  • The first tab "UTA Databases" includes our core theatrical video resources. These are accessible, easy to search and dedicated to theatre.
  • The second tab "UTA Archived Databases" includes resources that may be useful, but have some content that may be inaccessible. The search features here will be comparable to the first set of databses.
  • The third tab is non-UTA resources that might be useful, but aren't provided by the university.

As you search, think about terms. Pay attention to playwrights, directors, companies and other terms like genre. These terms will be useful as you dig in looking for more resources. In general, these resources are pretty forgiving and you can just explore.
