Don’t wait to set up your citation management plan. Once you start, you’ll wonder how you ever worked without it.
A true citation manager does far more than store your sources. It can:
Save references from the web with one click
Store PDFs, webpages, images, and other media
Annotate PDFs and webpages with robust tools
Organize with collections, folders, and tags
Capture and keep your research notes
Deduplicate duplicate records
Search titles, metadata, and full text
Cite in your preferred style in Word and Google Docs
Sync your library across devices
Collaborate through shared group libraries
After trying a handful of options, I am firmly set on Zotero. It covers everything on that list and then some. It’s free, straightforward, and surprisingly robust. While UTA Libraries offers limited support for EndNote and Mendeley, there is a strong Zotero community on campus and a Zotero Subject Guide to help you get started.
