What is ORCID?

ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) is a non-profit organization that provides unique identifiers for researchers. These identifiers, often referred to as ORCID iDs, are 16-digit alphanumeric codes that uniquely distinguish researchers and contributors in the academic and scholarly community. The primary purpose of ORCID is to solve the problem of name ambiguity in research and ensure that researchers can be accurately and uniquely identified, which is essential for proper attribution of their work.
