The way you connect data depends on the type of data you have. Tableau allows you to work with multiple types of data, including text files, spreadsheets, files from Google Drive, and more.
In this course, you will use XLSX files, which are Microsoft Excel files. Connect them to Tableau by selecting "Microsoft Excel."
Before you can get into creating your visualization, you'll need to confirm that your data types are correct. Each column will have an icon that shows you what its data type is. Click here for a guide to recognizing and changing these data types if they are not accurate.
