UTA CARES is an initiative that strives to make college more affordable for you. We all know that textbooks, online homework systems, and other educational materials are a big drain on your pocket, and we’re trying to change that. Open educational resources (OER) are free educational materials made by experts and realized using licenses that allow them to be freely used and adapted by educators and students, which could save you thousands of dollars over your college career. Get involved to increase the use of these materials at UTA.

The Semester You Learn to Walk
UTA students are invited to submit blog posts related to educational resources to be shared on UTA Libraries' IRIS blog. Check out the first student-authored post, submitted by Ursula Abdala, in the Textbook Broke series.
#TextbookBroke is a social media campaign that works to illustrate the steep prices of current textbooks students at universities across the globe are paying. Through this hashtag, you can see the OER movement and how students at other universities (as well as our own) are impacted by textbook costs. Join the movement and use the hashtag on Twitter or Instagram to express your thoughts on current textbook pricing!
#OpenUTA is meant to share information about UTA's OER and related open initiatives. Use the hashtag on social media to share your thoughts, read about what other students are experiencing, and discover ways to help further the use of OER at UTA!
