Telepresence Robots: TeleMe Setup

Telepresence Robot Usage Agreement

In order to check out a telepresence robot, you will need to fill out the Robot Agreement Form. Please click on the link below to fill out the form online. After completing the form, call 817-272-3395 to check out a telepresence robot.

Remote User Setup

In order to connect to the TeleMe, you will need to have the following:

  • Computer with internet connection
  • Webcam
  • Microphone
  • Skype application downloaded on computer

A Skype account has been created, so there is no need for you to create one. 

Step 1: Use your Skype account or use the one below.

In order to make and receive calls with the TeleMe you must first launch Skype. 

The logins for the Skype accounts are:

TeleMe73

  • Skype Name: utateledriver73
  • Password: ut@telem3

Teleme76

  • Skype Name: utateledriver76
  • Password: ut@telem3

TeleMe77

  • Skype Name: utateledriver77
  • Password: ut@telem3

TeleMe78

  • Skype Name: utateledriver78
  • Password: ut@telem3

TeleMe79

  • Skype Name: driveutateleme79
  • Password: ut@telem3

Step 2: Connect to TeleMe

 

After signing into Skype, open Google Chrome browser and click on the link below corresponding to the Teleme you will be driving.

After logging in adjust the Skype and Telego Controller windows so you can see and drive the TeleMe

 

If the screen is black, make sure Video Call is selected by clicking on the video camera and that your web camera is on. If you don't have a web camera you will only be able to make a voice call through Skype.

Step 3: TeleMe Controls

The Telego Controller  will default to the center with a blue dot. Start with your mouse in the center, then click and drag the mouse in the direction you want to move.

  1. Red indicates object in path*
  2. Turn left/right
  3. Move forward
  4. Move backward
  5. Adjust head up/down or left/right
  6. Settings
  7. Disconnect TeleMe
  8. Wifi strength
  9. Battery life

*There are only sensor in the front and not the rear, so be careful backing up.

When you're done with the video call, hang up and sign out of Skype. Next, disconnect from the Telego Controller.

Teleme Setup

The TeleMe is set up in guided access mode which means the device is locked down to the Skype application. There is no need to log into wireless network as the TeleMe is already connected. 

Making a Call

In order to make and receive calls with the TeleMe you must log into Skype. If you have a Skype account, you can log in using it. If you don't have a Skype account, please use the login below.

The login for the Skype account is:

  • Skype Name: utateleme##
  • Password: ut@telem3

The login for Skype is based on the number of the robot. For example, if you have the TeleMe73, the Skype name will be utateleme73.

After you have logged in with Skype, place a video call to the driver. Each TeleMe has a corresponding driver in its Contact List. The driver account for TeleMe73 is utateledriver73.

If the video isn't active, the screen will appear black. Click on the video camera to enable the video.

When you are done with the call, hang up the call with Skype and sign out.
