The Trailblazers Badge Program is UTA’s way of recognizing and celebrating your engagement with Open Educational Resources (OER). Whether you’re teaching, learning, or simply curious, there’s a path for you. Each badge marks a milestone, evidence that you’ve explored, created, or shared something that makes education more affordable, accessible, and adaptable.
This program is about more than badges, it’s about building a community of Mavericks who believe knowledge should be open to all.
Most badges take about 1 to 2 hours total, broken into short pieces of learning, practice, and reflection you can complete at your own pace.
Explore interactive lessons, try practical activities like searching for OER or reflecting on your own courses, and share a small deliverable to mark your progress.
Every badge is digital and shareable. Add them to your résumé, CV, or LinkedIn. UTA faculty may also include badges in reviews or teaching portfolios as evidence of engagement with OER.
Everyone starts with the Explorer badge, then chooses an educator or learner track. From there, you decide how far you want to go.
You do not have to go it alone. Questions or ideas? Contact the OER team, or join our community events and Teams channel for ongoing connection.
