Human Books

Be a part of a Human Library!


UTA Libraries are looking for volunteers to become human books for its first Human Library event. A human book is an individual who has volunteered to challenge prejudice through respectful conversation with members of the public. Each book will have a title that accurately reflects their experiences and the prejudice that they aim to challenge.

If you are interested, please complete the application. Deadline for applications are Friday, August 30, 2019. 

What are we looking for?

We are seeking individuals who have experience overcoming stereotypes and/or prejudice. The topic for human books can represent (but are not limited to):

  • Race/Ethnicity
  • Gender
  • Mental Health
  • Veterans
  • Sexual Preference
  • Immigrant
  • Convert
  • Disability
  • Political Affiliation
