Duchess, was one and a half year old Border Collie mix when she came to live with Abby Wilson and Duke on January 7, 2013. She was a stray rescued by the Mansfield Animal Shelter and fostered by a volunteer while she had her seven puppies. By Christmas 2012 all her puppies where adopted and she was ready for her forever home.
Duchess adapted to her new home immediately and loves her brother, Duke, a Golden Retriever and Pet Partner Therapy Dog. Duchess took obedience training and quickly learned how to behave and earned her AKC Good Citizen Award.
In August of 2013 she passed her Pet Partners Evaluation with Abby and her niece Silvia Papp and became a registered therapy dog. She now visits nursing homes and memory care facilities, schools for R.E.A.D program and special needs classes, UTA, hospitals and therapy ranch. She is a sweet loveable dog and brings so much joy to everyone.
