Jody Bailey received her Master of Library and Information Science from Wayne State University in 2008 and has been working since February 2009 at the University of Texas at Arlington Libraries. She started as a reference and instruction librarian in the humanities disciplines and in July 2013 became the department head for Arts and Humanities Outreach and Scholarship. From September 2014 to December 2015, she held the position of director of Grants and Research at UTA Libraries. Starting in January 2016, she moved into the director of Publishing position within the Scholarly Communications Division at the UTA Libraries. Her professional interests include passionate advocacy for open-access publishing, user-centered library services, and outreach activities. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English literature from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and her Master of Arts in linguistics from Louisiana State University, where she also completed the coursework for doctorate in rhetoric. She was a writing instructor for five years at LSU and Virginia Tech and then spent ten years as an academic copy editor of books and journal articles, mostly for the American Psychological Association.
