The purpose of this exercise is to enable students to access and integrate numeric data into their English 1302 research papers and also that they will have an understanding of potential biases behind the use of data sources.
We will break out the class into teams.
Of the topics listed below, two teams will be assigned to each topic.
For each topic chosen, one team will represent one side of the issue and the other team will represent the opposing view.
Each team will come up with 2 or 3 arguments to support their position using the data provided.
Each team will then present their opposing arguments to the class and the rest of the class can vote which argument seemed stronger/more compelling.
