Paws for Finals Spring 2013: Sugar

Profile of Sugar & Debbie

A tired and matted Sugar was rescued by her partner Debbie Knight one day when they were out for a walk. Debbie tried to identify Sugar’s owner, but with no collar, micro chip, or tags of any kind, she was unable to find Sugar’s home. Debbie took Sugar home, cleaned her up and gave her a family to love. Best guess is she is about 2½ years old and may be Bichon or Maltese-poo. Only a DNA test will tell us for sure. Debbie is curious so this is on her list of things to do for Sugar.

Sugar and Debbie completed their training and evaluation and were accepted as registered members of Pet Partners in December 2011. Since that time they have been visiting rehabilitation, assisted living and retirement centers in the Mansfield/South Arlington area. Debbie’s mother was very attached to Sugar and spent many hours visiting her favourite dog. When she passed away, Debbie decided that visiting others in health care facilities was something she would do in her mother’s memory. Sugar loves to cuddle with people and brings a smile to many faces during her visits.
