UT Arlington Library is again sponsoring an outreach and support program for students: Paws for Finals Spring 2013. This program allows students to interact with registered therapy dogs as a means of reducing the stress and anxiety that final exams can induce. Studies have proved that petting a friendly dog reliably lowers blood pressure and stress-related hormones in the blood, slows the heart rate, regularizes breathing, and releases tension from muscles. These effects can be achieved after only 5 to 24 minutes of interaction with a cheerful pup. Students (and faculty/staff) who need a study/work break filled with unconditional love are encouraged and invited to stop by the second floor of the Central Library April 29-May 8 (see schedule above). The UT Arlington Library is proud to partner with Paws With Partners registered therapy dog volunteer group for this program.
